Internet's 40th anniversary

Internet's 40th anniversary celebrated in US
Fri, Oct 30 12:35 PM
San Francisco, Oct 30 (IANS) The 40th anniversary of the birth of the Internet was celebrated in the US with events being organised at the University of California and the Computer History Museum in Los Angeles to mark the occasion.
Industry leaders, researchers and analysts, among others, attended the function at the California University Thursday, Xinhua reported.
Computer science professor of the university, Leonard Kleinrock, who on Oct 29, 1969 headed a team to send the first message over the ARPANET, which later came to be known as Internet, also attended the event.
'The moment the Internet was born, ushered in a technological revolution that has transformed communications, education, culture, business and entertainment across the globe, leading to dramatic change in our social, political and economic lives,' the university said in a statement.
Activities were also planned at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California, to mark the occasion.
'The 1969 connection was not just a symbolic milestone in the project that led to the Internet, it connected computers and eventually billions of people to each other,' Marc Weber, founding curator of the museum's Internet History Programme, said in a statement.
'In the 1960s, a few hundred users could have accounts on a single large computer using terminals, and exchange messages and files between them. But each of those little communities was an island, isolated from others,' Weber noted.
'By reliably connecting different kinds of computers to each other, the ARPANET took a crucial step toward the online world that links nearly a third of the world's population today,' he said.
Four decades after its birth, the Internet is seen by some to have encountered some kind of middle-age crisis. But others argue that it is still in the early stage of innovations.
At a symposium hosted this month by market research firm Gartner, Eric Schmidt, chief executive officer of Internet search giant Google, said he envisions a radically changed Internet five years from now.
In the next five years, the Internet is expected to be dominated by social media content, delivered over super-fast bandwidth in real time, he predicted.
'It's because of this fundamental shift towards user-generated information that people will listen more to other people than to traditional sources. Learning how to rank is the great challenge of the age,' Schmidt said.

Hey Kolhapur is changing!

I wish to inform all the visitors that The way you look at Kolhapur has to be changed and the e revolution has finally reached the collector office.
I remember when i ws trying to publicise internet connectivity and meet people in 19996 nobody was willing to listen to me. I met somebody in nicnet kolhapur office but at that time the nicenet was a bit conservative and they had alot of protocol so the connectivity could not be discussed. At that time BSNL was very active and Mr Sanyal was the man who took the initiative to support the activity and made us create a resoultion at KCCI ( Kolhapur Chamber Of Commerce & Industries) to get internet connectivity through NICNET.An application was sent through Hon Sadashivrao Mandalikji to SUshama Swaraj the then minister for this portfolio and in 1999 Kolhapur was added in first 92 cities to be connecetd via internet backbone.
I was checking for the data of kolhapur and saw dist collecotrs website i was surprised to see Mr deshmukh's blog with a very sincere appeal.
I remember vasant manwadkar's guest book of Kolhapur.com where all those who have left kolhapur used to coment that kolhapur is not soft city but a very hasrh city.
Now the flow is growing the nests are being emptied and many fathers and mothers waiting for their sons and daughters regret for not being in Pune or so..
Actually this is high time for the IT to come to Kolhapur.
Thank god the colllector is at least connected to this part of globe and this time Kolhapur will not miss the bus.

Tukaram Baba

When i started my career as a copywriter there was nobody to tell me about how i should or should not make it and then one day i referred TUKARAM GATHA very nicely indexed one so that say a word and you have something said by tukarambaba. Then i made him my guru like eklavya and after some years when i participated in an exhibition at mumbai through SAKAL i met gopi kukade the maker of the ONIDA advt The very famous neighbour's envy owners pride and he in his speech explained how he was inspired by TUkaram's nindakache ghar asave shejari... It was a great confirmation for my intellectual makeup and then i never looked back in my way of thinking.
I had to close my agency in 1999 due to recovery problems and changing world and then i read the spiritual stuff more seriously and last year i went to dehu the Babas' place. It has shaken me to pieces and i bought the new Gatha there,But it was only possible to have that thought because of the website tukaram.com.
I wish all of you plese check the website of TUkaram and understand what i mean..

KARVEER NAGAR VACHAN MANDIR kOLHAPUR

I was talking of books and then i understood the dimensions of public library this year when i met mr uday kulkarni of Karvver Nagar Vachan Mandir Kolhapur. The oldest of all the public library. This year i found that every where there is rejuvenisation is taking place and temples are getting rebuilt people are coming together to do somehing constructive.

Population is creating pressure on the infrastructure and resources are being pressurised. Everything is asking for a makeover.

Karveer Nagar Vachan Mandir is the one public project awaiting for this makeover in it's own style but the condition is that it should be done by public support only.Interstingly the collection is so rare but hihgly neglected because academicians are not serious about public libraries.

I made some of my studnets visit this library and made presentations here are some photohraphs.

The students have worked fantastically and sincerely.

DASSARA A NEW DESTINATION TO REACH!

I wish you all happy dassara and let all the ravans in you burn to reality and all the ram the essence of life come to you on occasion.Last time i had requested you to support the cause of various spiritual activities in kolhapur. One of them was the ramkrishna centre at kolhapur. Here are some photographs of the developments in rajarampuri 11 th lane kolhapur.
This place is blessed by many of the monks from rkmath at various places and holds the highest esteem in the minds of the people around and the devotees of all religion.
I appeal to all my students with the earnest request that this being the future of the new generation please donate generously for the cause.
To add to your information on how visinoary vivekananda was i read a book called east and west compiled by him, it describes comparison of faith belief and value system of the entire world including the dressing style as well as food and cultural habits. worth reading it.i you can get a copy of it from nagpur math india.
The latest update on this east and west is here
THE NEW THOUGHT MOVEMENT: A LINK BETWEEN EAST AND WESTDelivered at the Parliament of the World's ReligionsChicago, September 3, 1993
Alan AndersonCurry College.Perhaps what the world needs most is a religion that lovingly includes diversity, that invites all people to turn within themselves to find their individualization of the universal Reality (of whatever name, or none), a religion that offers techniques for using their awareness of the ultimate presence to solve their daily problems. New Thought has been doing this for more than a century of inspiring people, healing them, and encouraging them to engage in what is new thought and practice for them.
Perhaps the best description for New Thought is William James's chapter title, "the religion of healthy-mindedness." Ervin Seale often referred to New Thought by this name. Whatever else healthy-mindedness may be, it is open-mindedness, a willingness to grow in understanding of oneself and of others, whether individuals or groups. It means reserving the right to change one's mind, to be "open at the top" for new growth stimulated by whatever new light may come, open to God's ever-new self-revelation in ourselves. Whatever our faiths, may we all welcome whatever new thought we discover, with or without capital letters.
I hope that we understand the god in tru spirit and essence.

MY NEVR FAILING FRIENDS ARE THEY...

My Father died in 2001 with Cancer and in his last days he had lot of ideas of doing the social work and spiritual activity. some seven eight days before he died ha called for a paper and wrote My never failing friends are they with whom i converse day by day- Robert Southey. and he kept that paper in his book shelf visible. i have laminated that page and kept i was holding many of his books for years then i found that many of these books are irrelevant for the new generations and then i stared donating books to the visitors and public libraries so that a space for new books could be created in home. before death when he could walk i took him a for a small one and he told all that we read in the books now i find relevant and realisable one that is the fun and as told in bhagwad gita in 6th adhayaya if not in this birth i may be liberated may be next birth it will happen...

This keeps me inspiring and gives a lot of energy to live.

restoring old books and making people realise the importance of reading is very important.

Reading is a therapy used for improvement in personality.

i wish to share my knowledge of books if anybody is interested or my never failing friends are they.....

My Last Batch!

Students are always different species than anything else on this earth, I learnt this after some years in my teaching career. My last batch of students is a typical one and i don't know but they created lot of trouble to my working projects. They wanted everything to be done by their own whims however the surprising trend is the amount of confidence they possess, so much so that many of them thought of marriage and did it. I swear that i could not have imagined to get married after doing post graduation. It reminds me of mind fullness of their psyche may be they are right but the confidence to be successful is something very great. And ready to live with mistakes inherent and still take on life is even more different quality. This seems to be some global trend of happenings around us.

Taking life as it comes requires courage and passion my last batch had it too much i believe...

may god bless them.

I was called in the meeting at Rajaram college Kolhapur where i did my graduation. Our college is accredited with A grade by NAAC i.e. National Assessment And Accredit ion Council the supreme body created by UGC to monitor the quality of education.

Now the college is in reaccredition process and it requires the alumni support. We have a body called RACOPASTA headed by honourable Shri Pratapsinh Jadhav editor Daily Pudhari Kolhapur.

The college expects that all the ex students spread all over the world register their names on the website of our college i.e. rajacollkop.org and also write a mail to the principal to authenticate the relation. There are lot of new activities going around in the campus.

I appeal to all the rajaraminas to contact our college or visit the website or personally come down to campus participate and contribute in various processes of quality improvement movement of NAAC.

Our almamater is calling you and we made our life there so it is a call from your mother to support.

As time changes we have to change and live with the new dimensions of life.

Really ask yourself this question and you will know that ,this is nothing but the need of coming together for people and that too with more choice. It is typical but it is true.people want to know more and moer about the secrets of nature and culture through networks.Socialising is need of community and it requires sharing together in due respect and feelings.

The quest is on!

I really did not feel like blogging this year as i quoted the reasons in my previous posts.but it is time to communicate the web community that silence has many answers which i learnt these months. And i am learning to find it through my different experiences through some meditation exercises.
I used to go the local Ramkrishna-Vivekananda Kendra nearby in Rajarampuri and slowly i realised in the spirit of telling others that how one may try and get the blessings of almighty.
incidentally the centre is getting reconstructed by the local devotees of rk followers and the building in xith lane is coming up very fast.
I wish to modestly appeal to those who read this that if you have anybody at Kolhapur definitely send them to the centre and on sundays we meet to read a loud personality development and meditation books for our own and on our own voluntarily at 10:00 am . Currently we do it at Panjarpol behind lucky bazar but we will be shifting very soon to the new premises.
Those who have gratitude and faith in Ramkrishna paramhansa's teachings and want to help for the cause of building of the centre at rajarampuri xith lane may contact the trustees and send the money by cheque and or by draft. Off course this is entirely a volunteering task and i need not force you any thing.
But one experinece i can share with you and that is whenever i feel fatigued and tired and worried and tense i pray thakur these days and my visiting the place especially where the three images of thakur, saradama and vivekananda are kept that environment helps a lot to further calm down yourself and have peace of mind and a great unexplainable support you are blessed with.
At the very beginning of this century what we are looking for is the inner quest enriched in a true spirit, it helps your journey into unknown...
i humbly request you to check all the websites of Ramkrishna missions and its lineages for further information.
Especially The literature created by them is great and worth reading and realising it.

Am I Like Them Only?

That is the question?

I did not feel like blogging because i found the real life more engaging than virtual life for so many days.

IN the beginning of the year i have four major worries letting my spirits down

1. The cultural terrorism

2.The gender terrorism

3.The spiritual terrorism

4.The health and food terrorism

and i think the answer is

Obey And Command
Here in India, everybody wants to be a leader, and there is nobody to obey. Everyone should learn to obey before he can command. There is no end to our jealousies; and the more important the Hindu, the more jealous he is. Until this absence of jealousy and obedience to leaders are learnt by the Hindu, there will be no power of organization. We shall have to remain the hopelessly confused mob that we are now, hoping and doing nothing.
Interview in The Hindu. Chennai, 1896. Complete Works, 5: 216.

I need to know myself about these truths of life.......... and prove myself that we as indians are totally different and we want the salvation on;y if the almighty wants o give it. We don not want to have it now in this birth only buying the queue of few people.
